Irina Karavaeva shows the spirit of fairness.
Irina Karavaeva of Russia is not only a European, World and Olympic Champion gymnast, but she is also a great ambassador of fair play. She emerged victorious at the World Championships in 2001. However, it turned out later that due to a technical error made by the judges, it was actually a German athlete who should have won. Since, according to Federation rules, the final order could not be changed after the results were announced, Karavaeva officially requested the FIG to exceptionally change the results and exchange the medals according to her real performance. – Fair play is the spirit of a champion.
