Over the past year, we have been excited to support the World Curling Federation and their Olympic Celebration Tour. This tour is bringing curling to the masses by holding clinics at various ice rinks across the world, with Olympic curlers coaching interested people on the basics of curling. The tour recently traveled to to New Zealand.
Cheryl Bernard was the skip for the Canadian curling team during the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, where her team won the silver medal. As the representative for the World Curling Federation, her travels took her to Auckland, Dunedin, and Maniototo. She and her husband, Terry Meek, who is currently a leading curling coach and won the gold medal at the 2009 World Men’s bonspiel, had a great time in New Zealand. She took some time from her busy schedule to share with us her experiences in New Zealand, how she sees the sport of curling growing, and why she loves the game!
