The Foundation for Global Sports Development Pledges $375 Thousand in Grants to Support Olympic, Youth and Educational Initiatives
The Foundation for Global Sports Development (GSD) has pledged $375,000 in grants to support nonprofit organizations that focus on improving the lives of underserved youth through sports, educational, and health based curriculums.
Additionally, as part of GSD’s ongoing partnership with the United States Olympic Committee (USOC), the foundation has granted $27,500 to fund the USOC’s effort to improve capabilities for the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA). GSD’s grant will assist in directly addressing ANOCA’s issues in communication with member National Olympic Committees (NOCs) by funding the purchase of 55 laptops to be distributed to ANOCA’s members.
For over 20 years, GSD has provided financial support and guidance to organizations and athletes making a difference in communities around the world. In addition to their own youth based programming, GSD regularly provides grants to nonprofits as part of their ongoing mission to deliver and support initiatives that promote fair play, education, and the physical and developmental benefits of sports for youth around the world.
“Year after year, we are extremely grateful to have the opportunity to support such meaningful and far-reaching programs and organizations,” said GSD executive board member, Dr. Steven Ungerleider.
“Despite GSD’s broad range of programming and activities, nothing is more satisfying than giving back to the organizations and athletes dedicated to chartering processes and programs which result in fundamental change” added David Ulich, executive board member of GSD. “Nothing motivates us more than witnessing the positive results of these programs on the individuals and communities they serve.”
