2017 Olympic Day

What do you get when you combine 500 youth, over 30 Olympians and Paralympians, and 8 sports?

Olympic Day in Los Angeles!

This year LA2024 and the LA84 Foundation once again teamed up to create memorable Olympic Day for hundreds of young Angelenos. The Foundation for Global Sports Development was proud to sponsor and participate in the fun-filled day.

Each youth had the opportunity to learn and play seven different sports, represented by USA Track & Field, USA Gymnastics, USA Volleyball, USA Table Tennis, USA Handball, Play Rugby, and Avant Garde Fencers’ Club.

Check out our album of photos from the day.

Olympic Day, which occurs each year on June 23rd, is when people all around the world come together to celebrate the Olympic ideals. The pillars of Olympic Day are “move,” “learn,” and “discover.” June 23rd is a special date, because on that day in 1894, the modern Olympic Games were born in Sorbonne, Paris.

The LA84 Foundation created this awesome video, which offers a glimpse into the 2017 Olympic Day in Los Angeles:
