The Foundation for Global Sports Development Pledges $75K to Ready, Set, Gold!

The Foundation for Global Sports Development has become a major sponsor of the non-profit Ready, Set, Gold! program and will increase its support for the program with a $75,000 grant for the 2017-18 academic year.

Ready, Set, Gold! arranges for Olympic and Paralympic athletes to visit schools within the Los Angeles Unified School District to educate students about the importance of exercise and to motivate them to adopt healthy habits into their daily lives.

“We are proud to increase our support of Ready, Set, Gold! This outstanding program plays a crucial role of encouraging our youth to lead a healthy lifestyle, and we believe it makes a true impact in the lives of young people,” said David Ulich, president of The Foundation for Global Sports Development.

For more than 20 years, The Foundation for Global Sports Development has provided funding and guidance to organizations and athletes making a difference in communities around the world.

Ready, Set, Gold! is the only program of its kind in the country and was established in 2006 to address the significant rise in obesity rates among school-aged children in Southern California. Founding sponsor Samsung remains the program’s primary sponsor.

Said Ready, Set, Gold! Director Bernadine Bednarz: “All of our athletes are real life examples of how living a healthy and active lifestyle helped them be successful in sport and in life, and that’s the message we emphasize.”
