Ten college-bound scholarship recipients will each be awarded a one-time scholarship of $5,000.
Los Angeles, California – The Foundation for Global Sports Development (GSD) is now accepting applications for their Exceptional Youth Scholarship Award, a scholarship created to support deserving youth as they further their educations and strengthen their futures.
Outstanding high school seniors are eligible to apply for this one-time scholarship of $5,000 to be applied towards the cost of attending an accredited four-year college or university in the United States. The selection committee will choose 10 students who have demonstrated remarkable academic performance as well as a commitment to volunteerism and mentorship activities, with financial need also being taken into consideration.
The Exceptional Youth Scholarship was first launched in 2015 with over 150 applicants. “We expect an even larger response this year, and I look forward to learning about the extraordinary youth who will apply for the scholarship this spring. It is truly inspiring to see the positive impact these youth are already making in their communities,” said Dr. Steven Ungerleider, executive board member for GSD. “For many of these students, scholarships and other forms of financial aid are their only means of attending college,” added GSD executive board member David Ulich. “That’s why it is vital for GSD to offer this opportunity to deserving youth in pursuit of a college degree. It falls perfectly in line with our own youth programs and those we support.”
Applications for the scholarship award will be accepted April 8th through June 6th, and the winners will be announced on July 1, 2016.
